Have you always wanted a cute, lovable pet that you do not have to feed, clean or take to the vet? If you answered yes then Pokemon: Let's Go Pikachu! Or Pokemon: Let's Go Eevee! Are the games for you! According to the article on Pokemon.com (https://bit.ly/2uyXirh) being designed by GAME FREAK the developers of the core Pokemon series. The Let's Go games will take you back to the Kanto region where the first generation of the series took place.
When you start the game, you will run into either Pikachu or Eevee, Depending on the game that you purchase. Also depending on which version of the game different encounter rates will apply to different Pokemon. Just like in the core series of games.
Your partner Pokemon will run beside or rest on the top of your head. They will also be usable in battle.
According to the article, the game will be two players. Each player will use one joy-con. In battle when you are trying to catch a Pokemon during two player mode, both players can throw a poke ball at the same time to increase the chance of capturing that Pokemon.
To catch a Pokemon with a Pokeball, you may press a button on the joy-con, or flick your wrist to throw the Pokeball. Also according to the article, the battles will not be like in the core series, which are a turn-based system, the report does not go into detail about the battle system. But I would guess that it would be like Pokemon Go. The reason because the two games work together.
The article states that if you have caught a Kanto Pokemon in Pokemon Go, then you can transfer it over to Pokemon: Let's Go. The article teases that there will be more connections to come at a later date.
There are two things I am happy to hear. The article mentions that there is a poke ball controller that is made to work with Pokemon: Let's Go. You can use it play the game, or the best part is to transfer a Pokemon from the switch game to the poke ball and carry it with you. Then later move it back to the game and get cool bonuses. The Article does not mention what the rewards are though.
The second thing that makes me happy is the fact that it's a Pokemon console game. I am hoping that this is just one big tech demo. To see how to implement the Pokemon series on the switch. I would love to see another Pokemon RPG on a console. Like Pokemon XD and Pokemon XD Gale of Darkness for the Nintendo Game Cub.
If my hope, that this is indeed a tech demo of sorts then this could be the beginning of a new era of Pokemon.
